It’s a common problem and a common question – why do my socks fall down in my wellies?
Well it’s not actually some strange phenomenon or a punishment for being nasty in a previous life – it’s just friction. If your welly is slightly too big for your foot (they often are) then the friction created within the boot will pull your sock down as you walk around. And if that happens when you pull your wellies off your socks come off too of course!
Practical solutions are:
- first and foremost get a good fitting pair of wellies
- wear thick socks, preferably long ones
- try wearing two pairs of socks for added thickness
- get some sock suspenders (joking!)
Resist the urge to go welly commando – it’s not that comfortable, it’s not the warmest and you don’t want people thinking that you can’t afford socks!
